Pronunciation Journey / ɪ / vs / i: /
Instructions:
Start by displaying the pronunciation journey map to the students and explain that the activity involves traveling from the start point to the finish point on the map. At 3 designated points, students will practice pronouncing specific words.
Provide a clear example to illustrate the activity. For instance, you might say, “Let’s take the words ‘eat,’ ‘list,’ and ‘sheep.’ Where are we? (Kingston).”
Next, organize the students into pairs or small groups and give them 3-4 minutes to practice the journey together.
As students work on the activity, circulate around the classroom, and offer immediate feedback to help them fine tune their pronunciation.
